Dr. Candela has been board certified three times and is currently the only Orthopedic Surgeon in Southeast North Carolina performing computer navigated Knee Joint Replacements. He also performs Hip replacements through an anterior approach which is much less likely to dislocate and allow easier rehabilitation (you can sit down without fear of your hip replacement popping out). He has covered emergency rooms for twenty-five years and has extensive experience in all types of trauma. He is a highly decorated Army Veteran having demonstrated his courage and stability under the worst of circumstances. He speaks German Italian and Spanish and is the Author of a book "Veteran of A Foreign War". He is also an accomplished artist and oil painter. He will always give you an honest and compassionate opinion. He is the longest practicing Surgeon Certified by The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons currently practicing at Columbus Regional Healthcare Systems in Whiteville.
